Obama says he's "Saved"

OBAMA SAYS HE’S “SAVED”

Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama says he became a Christian while working as a community organizer in the south side of Chicago.

Speaking at a church in Greenville, S. C. yesterday, Obama said "I thought I was coming to save a ministry but in fact I was being saved, and I accepted Jesus Christ into my life".

MSNBC reports that Obama’s message was that he’s a politician whose political ambitions are “motivated by a deep religious Christian faith”

Obama went on to say,” There’s God's spirit in each and every one of us that's waiting to be released and to be let out".

Making a plea that the prayers of the assembled would keep him on a righteous path, Obama concluded his remarks by asking the congregation to pray for him and his family. He also asked the crowd to "pray that I can be an instrument of God" as he runs for president.

Recently Republican Presidential hopeful John McCain came under fire after saying in an interview that…”Since this nation was founded primarily on Christian principles, personally, I prefer someone who has grounding in my faith”.

McCain also took heat for saying that the Constitution established the United States of America as a ‘”Christian nation”.

Later saying his remarks to Beliefnet were “misinterpreted”, McCain said, “I believe that anyone can be President of the United States of any faith.”

Both candidates are trailing their party’s frontrunners in the polls.
