The Best Fishing Lure in the Tackle Box People can argue with your theology or your education… but they can’t argue with a genuine change in your life. My husband loves to fish. I even used to do some fishing and I know that different kinds of bait catch different kinds of fish. A worm will catch a small fish but a shiny lure can attract a big fish. What’s the best tool for a Christian to use to reach unbelievers? Is it your walk with the Lord? Is it your education? How about money? Actually it’s none of these things. When you’re out fishing for souls as we should be all the time, the best lure in your tackle box is your testimony. Your own experiences in life and how you came to know the Lord and how He set you free to walk with Him is the very best tool you have. Is your testimony a worm or is it a shiny lure? It doesn’t matter because they both still catch fish. People can argue with your theology or education. They can challenge even where you go to church, but they can’t argue with a genuine change in your life. In the Bible, Jesus related to the people of that time with parables or stories that spoke to what was going on around them and affected them. So it is with your testimony. The situations and circumstances in your life enable you to talk to others in very real and approachable ways. The good and bad things in life that have made us who we are become parts of our story that others can relate to. Every day God gives us opportunities to share with others. Every day we run into people that may be crying inside for answers. They’re hurting and may just want a word of encouragement and understanding from someone who has walked a similar path. They may be standing at the edge of eternity and you may be the last person on this earth that they will ever talk to. The next time God speaks to your heart and prompts you to speak up, don’t worry about what to say or how to say it. Just follow the leading of the Holy Spirit and if God makes a way, take out the best fishing lure you own; your testimony and tell what God has done for you.
